Klimchuk-Brown inching towards junior team

Luger off to Calgary after strong showings in four seeding races

麻豆社国产resident Nicky Klimchuk-Brown is one step closer to the Canadian National Junior luge team.

Klimchuk-Brown placed third among all B.C. lugers and fifth overall for all men after four races of the National Junior Team race series.

He was also named to the Talent Development Team on Friday (Nov. 15), joining Reid Watts, Matt Riddle, Adam Shippit and Nicole Pidperyhora.

The first selection race happens in Whistler on Nov. 30. The team will travel to Calgary for a week starting on Dec. 9 to compete in the second selection race to qualify for the Junior National team.

Klimchuk-Brown placed fourth overall at the Nov. 3 seeding race in Whistler, posting the fastest single time for all competitors at 37.517 seconds. He reached a top speed of 129.71 km/h and his three-lap total was just over one second behind leader Tim Stone.

He also had a strong showing at the Nov. 10 seeding race in Whistler, placing fourth, fifth and seventh, respectively, on his three runs.

The final decision on the team will be announced in Calgary on Dec. 15. For more information on Canadian luge, visit www.luge.ca.
