The Northwest Cup downhill mountain bike race series kicked off in Port Angeles, Wash., on the Easter long weekend and a handful of Â鶹Éç¹ú²úriders made their mark.
Squamish’s Miranda Miller took home first place in the pro women category after posting a time of 2:51.54. Miller’s time was an impressive six seconds faster than second place finisher Vaea Verbeeck from North Vancouver.
Competing in the pro men division, Squamish’s Lee Jackson placed 24th with a time of 2:38.01.
Junior riders also made an impact, with Team Â鶹Éç¹ú²úmember Harry Head capturing third place in the CAT 2 men’s 15-to-18 age division. Head posted a time of 2:56.89 to beat out the fourth-place rider by less than a second.
In the men’s 14-and-under category, local riders Jackson Goldstone and Seth Sherlock placed second and eighth, respectively. Goldstone competed in CAT 3, while Sherlock rode in CAT 2.
