鈥淲e鈥檝e hosted a run at 麻豆社国产Days for 30 years now,鈥 she said. 鈥淭here were other versions of the run in the past, but we鈥檝e always had a non-loggers athletic event for variety.鈥

The 麻豆社国产Days 10K Run starts Sunday at 8:25 a.m. at Howe Sound Secondary School (HSSS) and is a 鈥渕easured fast, flat, out-and-back route.鈥

鈥淚t鈥檚 an out-and-back because we want people to get the race done so they can then go and enjoy the Loggers Sports show,鈥 said Lewis. 鈥淪o this is not a walk. We don鈥檛 want walkers. They have to be able to finish the course in 80 minutes.鈥

Despite the restriction, the family-friendly race is meant for everyone, she added, and includes both a team and stroller division.

鈥淭his is also the 10th race of the Lower Mainland Road Race Series,鈥 she said. 鈥淎nd there are a lot of competitive people on the Lower Mainland Road Race Series circuit.鈥

The Lower Mainland Road Race Series features 11 of the best events in the Vancouver area, providing runners of all ages and abilities with the chance to compete against their peers.

鈥淏ut it also a popular event with recreational runners, as well,鈥 said Lewis. 鈥淪o, this could be a good run for people just getting into the sport.鈥

Kids 鈥 and adults who are new runners 鈥 are encouraged to compete in the Flashback Mile, a race commemorating one of the first runs held in 麻豆社国产called the Mainstreet Mile.

鈥淭his is ideal if you鈥檙e new to running,鈥 said Alma. 鈥淎lthough it is a popular event for kids, there is also an open adult category.鈥

The Flashback Mile also takes place at HSSS on Sunday during the 10K event.

鈥淲e will have graduated start times, 鈥渟aid Lewis. 鈥淲e will start with wheelchair competitors, then the 10K runners, the strollers and finally the Flashback Mile runners.鈥
