Saints top Vikings 34-6

Corridor-based flag football squad off to 2-0 start

Beynon McKeen scored touchdowns on both sides of the ball as the Whistler Saints topped the North Vancouver Vikings 34-6 in North Shore Football League action on Sunday (Sept. 15) at Howe Sound Secondary School field.

The Saints, who range in age from six to nine, are 2-0 this season. The flag football team is made up of youngsters from Whistler, Pemberton and Squamish.

Quinn Goertson scored on the opening drive to kick-start the Saints' offence. Liam Forsyth also scored touchdowns for the local team. Logan Anderson kicked a pair of two-point conversions for the Saints.

McKenzie and Forsyth also had interceptions for the Saints, while Goertson had four flags (tackles) to lead a stingy Saints' defence.

The Saints' next action is Sunday (Sept. 22) against the West Vancouver 49ers at Norgate Park in North Vancouver.
