Thrower
Squamish's Josh Thrower, shown here with the Tri City Americans, makes his debut with the Vancouver Giants tonight.

It鈥檚 a homecoming, of sorts, for 麻豆社国产native Josh Thrower.

The Western Hockey League (WHL) defenceman is the newest member of the Vancouver Giants after being dealt by the Tri-City Americans on Friday (Nov. 21).

Thrower tweeted out that he enjoyed his time with the Americans but it鈥檚 a thrill to join the Giants.

鈥淚 am truly honoured to be able to say I'm going to be playing for the team I grew up watching and idolizing,鈥 he said.

Thrower played two seasons with the Calgary Hitmen before being shipped to the Americans last season. He has three assists and 22 penalty minutes in 23 games with Tri-City this season.

Giants general manager Scott Bonner said Thrower should be a good fit.

鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to add Josh to our group,鈥 he stated on the Giants website. "He鈥檚 a gritty defenseman that will bring a different element to our team, and we have a great connection with the Thrower family, so it鈥檚 a perfect fit.鈥

Dalton Thrower, Josh鈥檚 older brother, played on the Giants last season and served as the team鈥檚 captain.

Thrower is set to make his Giants debut tonight when Vancouver hosts the Regina Pats.聽
