This is Otto, a sweet senior dog who has known heartbreak. Found as a stray, wandering the streets alone, Otto came to the shelter hoping for a second chance.
After two months of waiting, he was finally adopted and experienced the love of a family. But soon after he was returned due to dog reactivity in the home.
Back in the shelter, he is showing signs of frustration. He is chewing up all of his toys, panting and tearing up his blankets. He paws at his kennel door and paces.
Despite all of this, Otto remains as affectionate as ever. He loves snuggling with humans, rubbing against them like a cat, and enjoying his favourite toys and fishy treats.
He’s potty trained, quiet, and sweet, but his world has been shattered again. All he wants now is a family to call his own – a family that will offer him the comfort, love and care he deserves in his golden years.
Otto may not get along with younger or smaller dogs, but he would thrive as the only pet in a home where he can enjoy peaceful walks, gentle affection and a quiet, loving environment.
He’s not asking for much – just a chance to know that he’s truly wanted and loved. As a senior dog, Otto would flourish in a calm, adult-only home where his aging body can receive the gentle care and attention it needs.
