A Surrey acupuncturist is facing a regulatory investigation in his practice after a patient came forward with sexual misconduct allegations.
The Complementary Health Professionals of B.C. said in a Feb. 10 public notice it has gone as far as to order Sung Hyun La not to treat women patients and to post notices in his office of that restriction.
The notice must also be put onto La’s online booking pages. As well, La must provide electronic access to his patient calendar, be subject to random onsite audits and hand over any bookings or files for patients treated by him if requested.
The order from the regulatory body stated La, “conducted himself in a manner that demonstrated a lack of professional judgment and respect for boundaries.”
As well, an inquiry committee panel found here are some factors that render the alleged conduct likely to recur.
“Therefore, the panel determined that the public must be protected by an interim order during the investigation, pending any disciplinary hearing,” the notice said.
