麻豆社国产mental health event offers aid to those in need

Just about everyone needs a little mental health help since the pandemic started — and in the Sea to Sky, they’ll be able to find it at .

The mental health event is happening in 麻豆社国产on Oct. 5, at O’Siyam Pavilion from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There are also events in Whistler and Pemberton.

The events are free, anonymous and drop-in.

Locally, everyone is invited to come and talk to clinicians and peer support workers from 麻豆社国产Mental Health and Substance Use Services, Sea to Sky Community Services, 麻豆社国产Helping Hands Society, Pathways for Serious Mental Health and Family Smart.

The schedule includes: 

  • 11 a.m.: Mindfulness Meditation;
  • 11:30 a.m.: Naloxone Training;
  • Noon: Yoga (bring your own mat);
  • 1 p.m.: Tai Chi.

“Anyone can benefit from attending,” says Emily Grant, consumer initiatives support worker, , in a news release. “There will be professionals on-hand to answer questions, provide information, and help people in supporting their own mental health and knowing who to reach out to when they need help.”

The says 37% of folks in B.C. reported a decline in their mental health since the start of the pandemic. Youth and young adults, in particular, have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, reporting higher rates of decreased mental health.
