Vancouver Police are investigating a stabbing, prompting the closure of the Yaletown-Roundhouse Canada Line station Friday morning.

Two teenagers have been arrested after a person was stabbed outside a Yaletown condo building.

Vancouver police said a verbal altercation and stabbing occurred around 1 a.m. on Jan. 31, near Mainland and Hamilton streets.

"The 32-year-old victim was taken to hospital for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries,” says Const. Tania Visintin.

Police originally stated one person was arrested but, as the investigation continued, said two people, both aged 18, were arrested.

Visintin says the two people remain in custody while the investigation continues.

The incident forced a service disruption on a portion of a Vancouver SkyTrain line and the closure of the Yaletown-Roundhouse Canada Line Station.

TransLink posted a notice at 6:19 a.m. on Jan. 31 indicating a police incident had prompted the closure of the Yaletown–Roundhouse Station. A spokesperson for TransLink noted that bus service was in place to move passengers to Vancouver City Centre Station.

At 8:52 a.m., TransLink provided an update indicating the Canada Line disruption was over and the incident was resolved. Operations have resumed regular service and the Yaletown-Roundhouse Station is open.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call VPD’s Major Crime Section at 604-717-2541.
