Stephen Colbert has jumped on the opportunity to mock an age-old Canadian stereotype during a global maple syrup shortage.
Rising international — but Quebec's strategic reserve is ready to hold the line.
The funnyman used the opportunity to ask if the Great White North is trying to enforce a host of stereotypes about Canadians, including their love of maple syrup.
"Okay, Canada. Now you're trying to reinforce stereotypes," he quipped. "What next...Justin Trudeau jousting a moose on beaver-back?"
The Late Show segment also highlighted that Quebec's maple syrup producers control a whopping 70 per cent of the world's supply
In response, Colbert called on the world breakfast governing body — the International House of Pancakes — to do something about Canada's "chokehold" on the sweet stuff.
