On February 27 in Squamish, Leadership Sea to Sky Forums present Gareth Higgins an expert on conflict resolution and peace building from Northern Ireland. Addressing Community Conflicts: Beyond Fight or Flight takes place at the Brackendale Art Gallery Friday Feb. 27, 7:30 to 9 p.m. Higgins is a graduate in sociology from Queen's University of Belfast (BA, PhD) and was a co-founder of the zero28 Project, a peace and justice initiative in Northern Ireland. He has written and spoken widely on religion and conflict, art and spirituality and film, with his work appearing in The Independent, The Irish Times, Sojourners, and Third Way Magazine, among others. St. John's Anglican Church will host the World Day of Prayer Service in our community on Friday, March 6 at 7 p.m. This is an ecumenical service and everyone is invited.

In celebration of Mendelssohn's 200th Anniversary Year, a special chamber music concert will be held at the Brackendale Art Gallery on Thursday (Feb. 26) at 8 p.m. Tickets at $20 each are available at the BAG and at The Bookshelf.

Please join the premiere of the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úHistorical Society's new film Â鶹Éç¹ú²úNation: Stories from the Heart airing in the Totem Hall on Saturday (Feb. 28) at 7 p.m. this film traces the descendants of our Â鶹Éç¹ú²úNation families from the early 20th centure to the present. The evening is for all family members and includes drumming, singing, children's activities and refreshments will be available. Admission is by donation with proceeds going to the Historical Society.

The monthly draw for the 2008-2009 series of the Rotary 200 Club was held on Feb. 5. The winners were: Alice Christie ($100), Carlotta Liechti ($120), Gail Lepp ($130) and Peter Martin ($150). The grand final monthly draw for this series will take place on March 12 at the Howe Sound Inn.

The Howe Sound Performing Arts Association and Wild at Art are pleased to be presenting The Three Sopranos in concert at St. John's Anglican Church on Sunday, March 8 at 3 p.m. These lovely, talented singers Kelly Coubrough, Veronica McPhee and Melissa Braun are all Â鶹Éç¹ú²úresidents and they are planning a program to suit all musical tastes. Tickets are on sale at Billie's Bouquet and The Adventure Centre at $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, $5 for students 18 years and over and free to youth 19 years and under.
