If this sounds like you, please come out to the Peer Support Presentation in your area and find out more and how to get involved. On Friday (Feb. 27) in Squamish, Leadership Sea to Sky Forums present Gareth Higgins, an expert on conflict resolution and peace building from Northern Ireland. Addressing Community Conflicts: Beyond Fight or Flight takes place at the Brackendale Art Gallery from 7:30 to 9 p.m., Higgins is a graduate in sociology from Queen's University of Belfast and was a co-founder of the zero28 Project, a peace and justice initiative in Northern Ireland. He has written and spoken widely on religion and conflict, art and spirituality and film, with his work appearing in The Independent, The Irish Times, Sojourners, and Third Way Magazine, among others. An invitation is extended to the community to attend the historic screening of an original film presentation entitled "Â鶹Éç¹ú²úNation: Stories from the Heart" at the Totem Hall tomorrow evening (Feb. 28) at 7 p.m. It is brought to you courtesy of the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úHistorical Society and this gathering will also include the showcasing of the Pukultn and war canoe, drumming, singing, children's activities, a loonie/toonie auction and door prizes.

GrassRoots Jam is back at the Brackendale Art Gallery on Sunday (March 1) at 7:30 p.m. and a warm welcome by Carolyn Grass and other musicians is guaranteed. Sit back and enjoy or take along your favourite instrument and join the gang.

A Family Pancake Breakfast including eggs, ham, sausages and coffee (juice for the kids) will be held at Branch #277 Royal Canadian Legion on Sunday (March 1) from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The price is right too at $5 per person.

The Winter Storytime at the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úPublic Library has wrapped up. For the next session, registration starts on Monday (March 2) at noon hour for the spring storytimes, including weekly programs for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and families. On Tuesday (March 3) the Over the Hill Hikers will meet at 10 a.m. at Government and Ross Road for a Four Lakes outing. If you wish more information, please call Heather at 604-892-9003.

The Â鶹Éç¹ú²úFood Bank will open its doors on Wednesday (March 4) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for grocery distribution at the Alano Club on Third Avenue.

Women in the community are invited to an evening at the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úPublic Library on Mind and Body Healing for Women on Thursday (March 5) from 7 to 9 p.m. It is sponsored by the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úWomen's Health Network and will be led by Helen Croza who is a health practitioner and massage therapist and she promotes a philosophy that empowers individuals to create emotional and physical health. There is no charge for this session.

There is Bingo at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #70 on Monday (March 2) with doors open at 5:30 p.m. and bingo starting at 6:30 p.m.

The World Day of Prayer was begun by women in Canada and the United States in 1922 and is observed in more than 170 countries today. The service in Â鶹Éç¹ú²úthis year will be hosted by St. John's Anglican Church on Friday, March 6 at 7 p.m. and a warm welcome is extended to all. From the offerings received during WDP services across Canada, grants are provided to various projects from among those who apply prior to the March 1 deadline. Following the service at St. John's, refreshments will be served.

An evening of Opera with Verdi's La Traviata will be featured at the Brackendale Art Gallery tomorrow evening (Feb. 28) at 8 p.m. The BAG and The Bookshelf have tickets available at $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors.

A waterfront walk is planned by the Hearts in Motion Walking Club and members are asked to meet at the entrance to the Nexen Lands at 10 a.m. on Friday (March 6). For more info, call Darleen at 604-892-2092 or myself at 604-815-0152.

There will be an introduction to Buddhist Meditation at the Cedar Valley Waldorf School at 38265 Westway in Valleycliffe. The introductory five-week course will be held on Sunday evenings from March 8 to April 5 starting at 7:15 p.m. It is by donation and the suggested amount is $3 to $5 per session. The next Â鶹Éç¹ú²úBranch #70 Seniors' bus trip will be to the Starlight Casino, Queensborough (near New Westminster) on Wednesday, March 25. A shuttle bus is available to a mall. The cut-off date is Thursday, March 19 and to book your place on the bus, please call Elaine at 604-898-5463.

The Three Sopranos featuring Kelly Courough, Veronica McPhee and Melissa Braun are looking forward to performing at St. John's Anglican Church on Sunday, March 8 at 3 p.m. This concert is sponsored by the Howe Sound Performing Arts Association and your patronage for these local, talented artists would be much appreciated. Pick your tickets up at The Adventure Centre or Billie's Bouquet at $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, $5 for students 18 years and over and free to youth under 18.

The parents and students of the Howe Sound Secondary 2009 Dry Grad will be on the streets Sunday (March 1) collecting your bottles. The Grads receive credits for participating, which along with the funds collected recycling your bottles reduces their final out-of-pocket Grad Festivities costs. Look for them at your door Sunday morning.
