Â鶹Éç¹ú²úYouth Theatre line-up for this year's YOUTHfest includes five short plays. Survivor: Geography, directed by Adriane Polo is based on a popular TV reality show in which contestants set aside their differences and pull together as a team when danger strikes. Clarabell's Freedom, directed by Sarah Booth, depicts bunny liberator Jamie Rabbit coming to learn that freedom can take many forms while on a mission to save a bunny who's being held hostage as a pet. The Trial of Hansel and Gretel, directed by Alan Forsyth, shows what really went on in the gingerbread house. Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil, directed by Alex Sykora, has smart chimps monkeying around with scientists' experiments. Mischief in Thebes, directed by Emma Pederson, follows a Pharaoh's search for a clever woman to become the next queen of Egypt with surprising results. The evening is at the Eagle Eye Theatre Friday and Saturday (March 13 and 14) at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $9 adults, $7 students/seniors and are available in advance at Billie's Bouquet or at the door.

The Wild at Art Festival begins tonight (March 6) at 7 p.m. the West Coast Railway Heritage Park with some jazz, wine, canapes and a silent auction items, and of course, the talent in our community. Tickets are $15 cash at the door, or in advance at the Adventure Centre. There is also a free Family Fun Day at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park tomorrow (March 9) with entertainment ongoing until 5 p.m. It includes traditional Punjab Dance performance, belly dance performance, community choir with the Sea to Sky Singers, future Star Search performers by the Howe Sound Performing Arts Association and Carolyn Grass and Friends. There will be food and beverage concessions on the site. Wild at Art runs until March 15. For more information, go to www.wildatart.ca.

Newcomers are always welcome to join the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úEnvironmental Conservation Society for the monthly bird count and that will be held on Sunday (March 8) and you are asked to meet at the Howe Sound Inn and Brewing Company at 8 a.m. The group will be looking for and listening for migrating songbirds. There is still time to purchase tickets for Howe Sound Performing Arts Association concert featuring the Three Sopranos. Veronica McPhee, Melissa Braun and Kelly Coubrough perform at St. John's Anglican Church on Sunday (March 8) at 3 p.m. Tickets are available at the Adventure Centre, Billie's Bouquet and at the door at $20 adults, $15 seniors, $5 for students 18 years and over and free to youth 18 years and under. There will be a rebate at the door for HSPAA members.

The Over the Hill Hikers are asked to meet at Pat Goode Park on Tuesday (March 10 at 10 a.m. for a hike along Coho Park (steep sections) o Quest University. Anyone interested in joining this active group is asked to call Heather at 604-892-9003.

If interested in improving your communication skills and be more effective in meetings, consider attending the Â鶹Éç¹ú²ú"Sound Off" Toastmasters Club's Open House on Tuesday (March 10) at 7 p.m. in the community meeting room at the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úPublic Library. Parents - be reminded that the Kindergarten Reception at the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úPublic Library is tonight (March 6) from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Local kindergarten teachers teacher librarians will be special guest storytellers. Kids are asked to wear their pajamas and take along a favourite stuffed animal. Students will receive a gift from the Friends of the Library and Â鶹Éç¹ú²úMcDonalds will provide the refreshments.

Spring Break is coming up the week of March 16 to 20 and Brennan Park Recreation Centre is gearing up for the week. Spring Break Blast is for seven to 12 year-olds and it will be a fun week of swimming, games, crafts and sports. Slackers Slackling will be held on March 19 for the eight to 18 year olds. Here's your chance to learn to walk a slackline and a chance to try this fun new way of exercise.

Another program planned at BPRC on Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17 is MMR Bike Academy for nine to 14 year olds. The program includes trail riding, skill lessons, bike safety and maintenance. To register, call 604-898-3604 or www.squamishlive.ca.
