The Sea to Sky Singers choir presents "A Night at the Movies!," on April 23 and 24 at Centrepoint.

The choir is going Hollywood.

The Squamish-based group is presenting "A Night at the Movies!," for its spring concert on April 23 and 24 at Centrepoint.

The concert is directed by Veronica McPhee.

The accompanist is AJ McCalla.

Special Guests are Jaedon Cheal on bass and Mike Damgaard on drums.

The evening will include tunes from cinema favourites, including the golden age of Hollywood, animated Disney classics, musicals, and blockbuster films, such as from the Lord of the Rings and James Bond flicks.

The event will be hosted by 麻豆社国产actress Amy Reid, who starred in,, the and many stage productions.

"We want people to really feel like it's a big event. Like they're going to kind of an Oscars style event," said McPhee. (Minus the slapping!)

She told The 麻豆社国产 this event was actually in the works two years ago when the world shut down for COVID-19, so organizers are really excited about finally having it come to fruition.

"For the first time in a long time, if [attendees] want, they get their favourite gown on, [put their hair] in an up-do, wear makeup — goodness, gracious — as much as people want to get into the spirit of things. We're hoping people will really embrace the idea of getting all dolled up again and coming out," she said.

There will even be a red carpet and photo wall.

So come for the glam and stay for the music or vice versa

"We also have some members from the choir, singing solos, duets, there's a trio. So there are lots of textural changes between the group size and the instrumentation. And so I think there's a lot of variety with that. We also have like a video component," McPhee added.

She noted that this is meant to be a purely fun event.

"This concert is really just a celebration. It'll be a lot of fun. People will recognize the songs; they might find out that they're actually singing along. So, I think it'll be a good time.”
