Local singing talent on display at Downtown Â鶹Éç¹ú²úevent

The auditions are all done and now it's time for the cream to rise to the top at the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úIdol event on Saturday (Sept. 14).

Pavilion Park will be transformed into an outdoor concert hall and some of the top singing talent in Â鶹Éç¹ú²úwill battle head to head for a $500 prize.

The free event kicks off at 6 p.m. with a performance from Â鶹Éç¹ú²úNation Welh Tima Kexwusem Dance Group. They'll be followed by a showcase for competitors aged 15 and under and then the 16-and-up adult category, where the winner will receive $500 and community bragging rights.

The event is presented in partnership with the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úAcademy of Music and the Howe Sound Performing Arts Association, along with the District of Squamish. Â鶹Éç¹ú²úIdol was created to be linked with the Downtown Â鶹Éç¹ú²úSummer Series as part of the Downtown Â鶹Éç¹ú²úTransformation Initiative.
