Garibaldi Lanes will be filled with bowlers next weekend, March 26 to 28 when the 2004 Bowl for Big Brothers and Big Sisters is held. Bowlers will be on lanes on Friday from 7 to 11 p.m., Saturday from 3 to 9 p.m. There are still lanes available on Friday and Saturday. Many youngsters will be making their first debut on stage next week when they participate in the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úYouth Theatre plays at the Eagle Eye Theatre on March 25, 26 and 27 at 8 p.m. each evening. I'll bet we all know someone who will be performing in The Mystery of the Missing Ham, Adventures of Captain Potato, Witching Hour, The Dream Rocks or the Wolf Take Blues.
Young people with previous experience on stage include: Emma Pederson, Marnie Jarvis, Nadine Sykora, Tristan Finck, Dana Babcock, Amanda Anderson, Tyler Laskovic and Leanne Peek. The seasoned actors performing are: Skai Stevenson, Kathleen Forbes, Evelyn Dawson, Louisa Ourum, and Robert Campbell. The musical director is Gord Durocher. Tickets are available at Highland Video and Mostly Books at $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors.
There will be cool prizes and entertainment provided at the first Youth Karaoke Night at St. John's Anglican Church at 1930 Diamond Road (behind the Sea to Sky Hotel) on Sunday (March 21) from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Those ages 13 to 16 years are invited to participate, watch or cheer on your buddies. Knack to Knit is a neat way to learn to knit in a pleasant atmosphere. All level knitters are invited to participate at the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úPublic Library from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday (March 21). Another event taking place at the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úPublic Library is a Scrabble Tournament on Saturday, March 27 beginning at 9:30 a.m. There will be team and singles competition for adults and children and three games are guaranteed. There are prizes for top pledges, top individual scores and top team scores. The entry fee is $20 per individual and $30 for teams. Proceeds from this tournament will go to literacy programs in Squamish.
The second segment will surely be as interesting and humorous as the first interview with Dr. Laverne Kindree on the Not Just for Seniors program on Community Channel 10. It airs on Tuesday (March 23) at 7 and 10 p.m. and on Wednesday (March 24) at 10 a.m. and 7 and 10 p.m.

Balding for Dollars is a fund raising event to raise funds for family support programs and to help with medical supplies for the Cancer Ward and Outpatient Clinic at B.C. Children's Hospital. It also raises community awareness about childhood cancer. Many in our community will remember former resident Norma Wingfield, wife of the late Rev. Harold Wingfield, who was minister of Â鶹Éç¹ú²úUnited Church from 1964 to 1972. Norma passed away in Ladysmith on March 12 and a service in her memory was held there yesterday. Our condolences go out to her daughters and families.

Baseball registrations are still being accepted. Any players interested in trying out for the Majors division must register no later than today (March 19). Tryouts for the Majors division will take place on March 25 and 26 at 6 p.m. at the Brennan Park fields.
There will be a meeting for all baseball players between the ages of 13 and 18 and their parents on (March 23) at 6 p.m. on Field 6 (across from the pool).
