The Capilano University 麻豆社国产campus is being repurposed.聽
Starting June 1, Conseil scolaire francophone de la Colombie-Britannique (CSF) will lease the campus property, located at 1150 Carson Place behind Howe Sound Secondary, for its kindergarten to Grade 7 school, according to Chris Bottrill, dean of Capilano鈥檚 麻豆社国产Campus.
Come autumn, the courses previously offered at the campus will be moved to a new but yet-to-be-determined location, Bottrill said.
鈥淚t made good sense on many levels. This society needed a good space and this is an ideal space for them. The utilization of the campus space was now quite low relative to the space that we have,鈥 he said, adding leasing the building will save the university money.聽
The campus currently has about 20 full-time students in the Wilderness Leadership program and about 40 part-time students enrolled in business, arts and science courses, according to Bottrill.聽
While the wilderness program has remained popular, interest in the business administration courses have waned, he said.聽
鈥淚t is a very common pattern where we get into cycles of interest for some of these programs, so the numbers in business administration have reduced,鈥 he said.
All Capilano programing will continue, including the Business Administration certificate program, Bottrill said. He stressed that the university is going to continue in Squamish.聽
CFS is currently located in Garibaldi Highlands and has about 100 students, Bottril said.
