This may be exciting news for Sea to Sky Corridor littles.
The Britannia Beach Play Park is scheduled to start its construction upgrades on Sept. 28.
The additions include a swing structure with an accessible option, new climbing and sliding structures, log pile and boulder features, a spring-rider fire truck and new surfacing. The construction is scheduled to take about three weeks in total.
“When it’s completed, the play park will be almost double the size of the previous park with more opportunities appealing to a broader age range,” said the director of SLRD Electoral Area D, Tony Rainbow, in a news release.
According to the release, the park was originally constructed in 2008 and was inspected in 2020. After the inspection, it was determined that the park was in need of upgrades. The SLRD board of directors approved of the upgrades in the fall of 2020, which were budgeted at $207,607. The funds came from area D’s .
“I am pleased to see this project move forward this fall, with young residents and visitors being able to enjoy the play park before the snow flies, and for many, many years to come,” added Rainbow.
