Staff at the District of 麻豆社国产say the pole is a test site that is part of the .
The District received a $280,000 grant under the for geotechnical investigative and seismic assessment work. It’s intended to inform the concept design for dike upgrades as part of the dike plan. Locals walking the area likely noted the drilling work in the area — or the associated signs — last year.
Drilling was completed in the fall of 2021.
District staff notes an environmental management plan was in place for the drilling.
The plan was developed in 2019 and 2020 with for the 麻豆社国产River dike through the Siyích’em Reserve and Eagle Viewing Area, along Government Road.
The document includes a conceptual design for dike upgrades, a public amenity plan and an implementation plan.
The upgrades are needed to help protect the community from future flooding.
