RCMP will be out in force on New Year's Eve in the Sea to Sky to help keep those celebrating safe.

Have fun celebrating the dawn of a new year but put safety first.

That is the message from the Sea to Sky RCMP.

And to make sure that is the case, officers will be on hand.

Sea to Sky RCMP in Pemberton, Squamish, and Whistler will have dedicated resources for New Year’s Eve to help keep communities safe, .

Officers will be focusing on:

  • Foot patrols in Whistler village and in community downtown areas
  • Road checks for driver sobriety
  • Liaising with transit staff to ensure transit users are being respectful of services.

Officers will have “zero tolerance” for open liquor, including in taxis.

To avoid being the targets of crime, police recommend locals plan for safe transportation to and from events, safe consumption, look after each other, and report anything suspicious to RCMP.

“If you’re celebrating, safely look after yourselves and look after others around you,” said Cpl. Angela Kermer of the Sea to Sky RCMP.

Anyone with any information regarding any crime is asked to contact their local RCMP detachment at 604-894-6634 (Pemberton) / 604-892-6100 (Squamish) / 604-932-3044 (Whistler), contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or go to .
