The Â鶹Éç¹ú²úRCMP has released more information on the reported attempted child abduction on Feb. 9.
It turns out, police say, there wasn't an abduction attempt at all.
On Friday, Feb. 9, Sea to Sky Â鶹Éç¹ú²úRCMP say they responded to a report of a child abduction attempt in the area of Highlands Way North and The Boulevard.
According to that report, a man the child didn't know approached the 11-year-old boy and asked if he wanted to get into his truck.
Mounties say there was an "extensive investigation" of the situation, involving General Duty Watch and General Investigation Section members.
The investigation found there was no attempted abduction and that neither the boy nor the general public was ever at risk from this man, according to the a Feb. 16 RCMP news release.
"The safety of the children in our community is of paramount importance to the Sea to Sky Â鶹Éç¹ú²úRCMP, and we would like to thank everyone who assisted investigators in the course of their investigation," said Const. Katrina Boehmer, media relations officer for Sea to Sky RCMP, in the release.
