Roadwork to cause delays on Sea to Sky Highway from Aug. 6 to 15

Resurfacing work through Lions Bay: What drivers need to know.

Once we get through the expected heavy traffic over the BC Day long weekend, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is warning drivers travelling the Sea to Sky Highway to expect delays from Tuesday, Aug. 6, until Thursday, Aug. 15.

Drivers are advised to expect lane closures and delays through Lions Bay for planned highway resurfacing work.

Cyclists should also expect delays and detours.

says the aim is to resurface approximately four kilometres of Highway 99 southbound through Lions Bay, from Magnesia Creek to Lonetree Creek.

One lane southbound will be closed 24 hours a day for the full project.

From Aug. 12 until 15, drivers can also expect northbound left-lane closures through Lions Bay. The release states the southbound traffic will be in a counterflow in the northbound left lane from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 a.m.

During this time, Lions Bay detours will be in effect.

As always, emergency vehicles will have priority access.
