The following are the briefs released by the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úRCMP for the week of Oct. 18 to 24, 2022.
Car smashes into house
RCMP say a car drove into a house in the 40300-block of Hood Road in the Garibaldi Estates.
Officers say the driver had drunk liquor and consumed drugs before driving. He was startled when he saw a bear and hit the gas instead of the brake pedal. No one was hurt, though the vehicle and the house were damaged.
Police say test results of the driver’s breath samples showed the driver shouldn’t have been legally behind the wheel. Officers issued the driver a three-day prohibition and violation ticket for no driver’s licence and impounded the car.
Stealing from vehicle
Officers say that suspects stole gym gear after breaking into a vehicle at the Murrin Provincial Park parking lot on Oct. 16.
Police say the perpetrators smashed the window of a black Ford Escape and took a backpack with Saucony runners, a grey t-shirt, a padlock, cologne, and a small cooler.
Hit-and-run
Police are investigating a hit-and-run that occurred on Oct. 19 on the 38900-block of Progress Way.
Officers say surveillance video shows a grey pickup truck reversed into another car at 6:10 p.m. The driver pretended to leave a note on the car but took the note with him when he left.
