Below is a list of crimes released to the media by the 麻豆社国产RCMP for the week of Nov. 8 to 14, 2022
Stolen bikes
Thieves stole three bikes with a total value of $9,000 after breaking into a garage in the 39700-block of Government Road.
Police say they investigated the report on Nov. 13.
Officers suspect the theft may be targeted, as no other items were reported stolen from the garage, and police continue following up on this matter.
Scanner fraud
Police allege a local store was defrauded of $4,200 after an employee mis-scanned items for their friends.
RCMP allege that person’s friends were allowed to leave the store with unpaid merchandise.
Officers started an investigation on Nov. 8.
Bike and car collide
Officers say a collision occurred between a car and a bike on Nov. 10, just after 8 a.m.
Police say a cyclist travelled the wrong way on the 39200-block of Discovery Way. At the same time, a vehicle was turning east.
RCMP say the cyclist was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The front tire of the cyclist’s bike was damaged.
The car driver was uninjured, but there was damage to their fender.
*** Updated Nov. 16, 4:06 p.m.: — Please note this brief has been updated to remove a reference from the police report that said Discovery Way is a one-way street. It is not a one way street. The 麻豆社国产 is following up with RCMP and will clarify the location if necessary.
Speeding on the highway
Police issued a ticket and impounded the vehicle of a pickup truck driver travelling at 144 kilometres per hour in a 90-kilometre zone.
RCMP say the incident occurred on Nov. 13 when a local B.C. Highway Patrol officer was doing speed enforcement on the Sea to Sky Highway.
The truck was impounded for a week.
