Forgot to get groceries and now you’re hungry on New Year’s Day? Don’t worry you’re not completely out of luck.
All three main grocery stores are open on New Year’s Day albeit with reduced hours compared to normal days.
Hector’s Your Independent Grocer will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Jan. 1. Nesters Market will be open from 8:55 a.m. to 6:05 p.m. and Save-On-Foods will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Shoppers Drug Mart is also open on New Year’s Day but only from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. London Drugs will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
With a quick stroll through downtown Squamish it is clear that several stores and restaurants will be closed on New Year’s Day, so it is best to call ahead.
Those looking to take advantage of some backcountry adventures should note that avalanche conditions south and east of Squamish.
