A Coquitlam hat trick and a 麻豆社国产win

Sandra Walter took three wins in the Sq鈥檃kw鈥檜s mountain bike races while local Jamie Sparling took first in combined event

Coquitlam cyclist Sandra Walter鈥檚 hat trick over the weekend made her perhaps the brightest star of the Sp鈥檃kw鈥檜s race events.

Walter had the best overall time among female cyclists in all three events of the second annual iteration of this mountain bike race in Squamish.

The event features a 50-kilometre race on the first day; a 35-kilometre haul the second day; and a combined two-day stage race, which adds up the times of those who did the previous events.

Walter managed to finish first in the 50-kilometre race at two hours, 45 minutes and 37 seconds.

She took gold in the 35-kilometre event with a time of one hour, 30 minutes and 45 seconds.

Both performances set up Walter for a final first place finish in the combined event, which added up both times for a total of four hours, 16 minutes and 22 seconds.

There were 53 female competitors in the 50-kilometre event, and 77 who competed in the 35-kilometre race.

Thirty female riders tested themselves in the combined event.

In the overall male division, it was a revolving door of winners, as each event had a different rider to reach the top of the podium.

Consistency appeared to be key to his success, as Sparling scored in the Top 3 in both the 50 and 35-kilometre events over the weekend.

He was third in the 50-kilometre and took second in the 35-kilometre race the day after.

There were 330 male riders in the 50-kilometre race and 172 in the 35-kilometre event.

A total of 101 male riders decided to double down with the combined event.

Hundreds of cyclists were in town over the weekend to test themselves at the second annual Sp鈥檃kw鈥檜s race.

Since its first year, the event has morphed into a bigger race that features three main events.

The event follows in the tradition of another well-loved 麻豆社国产mountain bike race, the now-ended Test of Metal.
