Sounds from all across Canada are set to converge at the Howe Sound Brew Pub on Saturday (Nov. 6) night.
Whistler native Trish Jamieson, along with Winnipeg's J.D. Edwards and Ottawa's Matt McKechnie (Graven) will be the featured acts on the Friends, Fears and Prairie Fires Tour, which is set to kick-off at 9:30 p.m.
According to Edwards, the three acts know each other surprisingly well despite the considerable distance between them.
"Graven and Trish Jamieson are old friends from a far away place," he said. "We all grew up attending and later working at the same summer camp in Ontario."
A bond between the three artists developed from their time at the camp that remains strong to this day.
"We started writing songs in our spare time and made mix tapes of everyone's tunes," he said. "We shared many nights under the stars and Thanksgiving dinners around rows and rows of long tables. They were very talented musicians back in the day and today have grown into excellent performers."
Edwards and Graven randomly re-connected earlier this year after a decade apart and decided to come together and meet up with Jamieson for a cross country tour.
Edwards, who described his style of music as "funky-country," said that he plans to give those in attendance a show to remember.
"People can expect stories from a passionate heart and songs written about the human condition," he said. "They'll hear rhythm and blues fused with country and soul, a true mix of Ontario urban folk with Manitoban prairie rock."
Trish Jamieson, who also performed at the Live at 麻豆社国产event in August, is a well-known artist in the Sea to Sky region and her style has best been described as soulful pop. Her music utilizes strong guitar rhythms along with a powerful voice.
Jamieson writes and performs much of her own music but also includes a wide variety of cover songs that she makes her own.
The third act, Graven, will be bringing his unique voice and sonic range of country, folk and cottage rock to complete the trio. McKechnie, who hails from Ottawa, is making his first trip to the West Coast and will be performing solo shows for the first time in his career. It will also be the first stop in 麻豆社国产for Edwards.
"I have only ever stopped in for gas or driven right through Squamish," Edwards said. "I'm looking forward to breathing that mountain air, but most of all, to be together with some old friends, playing music and shooting the s**t. I'm excited to perform for the people in 麻豆社国产and hope we can make some new friends."
Edwards and Graven will be making their way through B.C. along with Jamieson and then continuing down the road all the way back to Edwards' home town of Winnipeg on Nov. 19.
There is no cover charge for the show, which takes place at the Howe Sound Brew Pub, starting at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 6).
