Action heating up for local BMXers

Race for Life totals up while locals excel at provincials

The money just keeps pouring in for 麻豆社国产BMX's Race for Life event, which was inspired by Whistler rider Nick Geddes' battle with leukemia.

According to the group's website, almost $6,500 has been raised since the Race for Life event, which took place on May 15. The grand total now sits at $12,058 and with donations still being accepted until Aug. 15, the sky appears to be the limit.

Several local riders also took part in the first four of 12 total provincial championship races. The first race took part on Saturday (May 21) in Victoria. First-place finishers included Jordan Tulk, Teigen Pascual, Ron Goldstone and Sean Fincham. Second-place finishers included Mackie Hanwell, Cameron Fielding and Bailey Goldstone. Third-place finishers were Griffen Tulk, Kasper Woolley, Miriam Bailey, Jackson Goldstone and Mike Bailey.

Saturday also saw the second race of the series take part in Nanaimo. First-place finishers in that event were Jordan Tulk, Mike Bailey, Ron Goldstone, Mackie Hanwell, Sean Fincham and Rich Carlson. Second-place finishers were Samuel Watson and Griffen Tulk, while finishing in third were Bailey Goldstone and Miriam Bailey.

Local riders remained on Vancouver Island for the third race in the series, which took place in Qualicum Beach on Sunday (May 22). Finishing first were Teigen Pascual, Bailey Goldstone, Maja Woolley, Kaspar Woolley and Ron Goldstone. Coming in second were Jordan Tulk, Jeremy Pope, Sean Fincham and Rich Carlson. Placing third were Griffen Tulk, Chloe Carlson and Miriam Bailey.

The fourth race took place in Cumberland on Monday (May 23), but results were not available at press time.

On the horizon for 麻豆社国产BMX is the Sea to Sky Nationals, which the group will host from June 10 to 12. Hundreds of racers are expected to descend upon 麻豆社国产for the event.
