After two weeks of snow delays, teams in the Howe Sound Men's Soccer League (HSMSL) returned to the pitch on Sunday (March 9) and battle for playoff positioning is heating up.
The top four teams in the league are still in the mix for first place and the 1-1 draw between B&B Excavating and Sikh Temple on Sunday proved just how tight it is at the top of the league.
Hans Schranz scored for B&B, with Mohammed Habib replying for Temple, but the rough play on the field was the real story. B&B received two red cards and four yellow cards, with Temple picking up three yellows to prove there is no love lost between the two squads.
B&B remains on top of the HSMSL with 20 points, while Temple is tied for third with 16 points.
The day's other game saw the Ellis Moving Eagles defeat Ocean Sun 6-0. Scoring for the Eagles was Scott Thompson, Nathan Ward, Chris Golaiy (two) and Austin Draper. Ocean Sun was also charged with an own goal in the loss.
The Eagles sit in second place with 18 points but have one game in hand on B&B. Ocean Sun is in fifth place in the league with nine points.
HSMSL action continues on Sunday (March 16) with Ocean Sun taking on B&B and Sikh Temple challenging Galileo.
