Adamson, Murdoch win Woppet

Final event of cross-country ski season sees 麻豆社国产skier place first among women

It was a good day for a 麻豆社国产athlete at the fourth annual Woppet cross-country ski on Saturday (April 7) at Whistler Olympic Park (WOP).

Heather Adamson, skiing in the 40-plus age category, won the women's 30-kilometre "quest" race, placing 25th overall in the field of 40 racers with a time of one hour, 41 minutes, 32.8 seconds.

Kent Murdoch from North Bend, Wash., grabbed first place in the 30 km men's race with a time of 1:15:16, beating out Seattle's Vesa Suomalainen by almost five minutes.

The 15 km "challenge" event saw Vancouver's Gary di Silvestri blaze through the course in 41:36.7, beating out second-place racer Kayden Sim by almost four minutes. Heather Campbell posted the fastest time among 麻豆社国产athletes, placing fourth among all women and 14th overall with a time of 52:11.1.

Pemberton's Joe Davies won the 7.5 km "cruiser" division with a time of 23:52, beating out Toshi Kawano by slightly more than a minute. Kaede Kawano posted the top women's time and finished third overall at 25:34.7.

It was also the first time that the Woppet featured the chariot race. Skiers glided through 7.5 km with a passenger attached to their back. Nelson Dow won with a time of 26:48.4, with Lesley Clements posting the top female time of 27:38.3.

The Woppet concludes the winter season at WOP, with the spring and summer biathlon events next on deck.
