Those wanting to take a break from talk of mountain bikes and trails can do so by checking out the annual 麻豆社国产Men's Amateur Golf Tournament on Saturday and Sunday (June 15 and 16).
It's the 43rd year for the tournament, which will see 160 golfers take to the fairways at the 麻豆社国产Valley Golf and Country Club.
Course general manager Brian Avey told The Chief that about 30 per cent of the field will be golfers with four handicaps or lower.
It all gets underway on Saturday with half of the field teeing off at around 7 a.m. and another group hitting the links 11:30 a.m. The two groups will then alternate times for Sunday's round.
A total of some $9,000 in prize money is up for grabs at the event, with another $3,000 available in games of chance such as the putting contest on Saturday.
The course record at the tournament still holds from 2001, when former 麻豆社国产resident Kevin Hogg shot a 66.
The free event is open to the public and locals are encouraged to come check out the links anytime over the weekend. The next big event on the calendar for the course is the 麻豆社国产Mixed Amateur tournament on Aug. 3.
