The 麻豆社国产Axemen are getting set to cut through the competition in the Vancouver Rugby Union (VRU) this spring.
For the past several months, the club has been practicing every Thursday night inside Brackendale Elementary School but is poised to make its VRU debut in February.
The Axemen will play in the league鈥檚 Third Division and square off against teams from the Lower Mainland and beyond.聽 Axemen games in the VRU are scheduled to occur on Saturday mornings. Axemen coach Ally Mac said turnout has been good but they can always use some more local talent.
鈥淭he club now has an active roster with over 25 names to date,鈥 he said. 鈥淏ut we are still looking for more players to join the club as we suspect that through the season some players will have other commitments and not be able to make some games.鈥
Mac said anyone interested in getting involved on or off the field with the Axemen can contact him at [email protected] or find the club on Facebook under 麻豆社国产Axemen rugby.
He added that the Axemen are also hoping to send a squad to the Las Vegas International 7鈥檚 tournament in February. The event is recognized as one of the biggest rugby tournaments on the planet, with hundreds of teams from all across the globe participating. Any local business wanting to help sponsor the club on their trip can contact Mac for more details.聽
