The new 麻豆社国产Ball Hockey League (SBHL) is garnering interest and is set to hit the floor this coming spring.
League organizer Nick Lowe said seven teams are being put together at the moment but said there is room for more and also space available for people who simply want to join the league and be placed on a team.
"We're going to have a draft with captains choosing their players online," he wrote n an email. "Right now it sounds like we will be playing in some of the school gyms and Totem Hall."
Lowe said he planned to put the master schedule together in early March, with games beginning in mid-March or later. Details still need to be worked out but Lowe said leagues are usually divided by age, with 12-and-under, 15-and-under and 16-plus usually being the breakdown. Games are played five-on-five with a goalie and a liquid-filled ball is used instead of a puck. Recommended equipment for the sport includes gloves, soccer shin pads and, of course, a jock. Fibreglass or street-hockey sticks with plastic blades are also used.
Team rosters will be made up of 10 players plus a goalie. The SBHL will have a 20-game season, along with playoffs. Lowe pointed out that the league is open to all ages and genders.
