Mountain bikers of all shapes, sizes and skills are again invited to venture deep into Valleycliffe at the 14th annual Beyond the Valleycliffe of the Dolls (BVOD) on Saturday (Aug. 22).
The annual fun bike ride is regarded as a deluxe tour of the granite maze known as Valleycliffe, as well as a big fundraiser for 麻豆社国产Search and Rescue (SSAR).
The social ride takes participants through Valleycliffe鈥檚 five peaks including many secret or lesser-known trails. It鈥檚 a no-pressure day; riders are not timed, and everyone is encouraged to ride at his or her own level.
Longtime 麻豆社国产resident Bryan Raiser started the event and helped run it for 10 year and it now falls under the SORCA umbrella of events.
鈥淎lthough people are more than welcome to race, the object of this day is to simply have as much fun as possible,鈥 Raiser said.
One of the biggest drawing cards to the event is the fruit booth. Halfway through the course, a table is set up by Nesters full of food and refreshments to make sure everyone makes it through the second half of the ride.聽
鈥淏asically I want to make the perfect ride, and what is better than being halfway through an epic ride when you come upon an oasis of melons, refreshment, chocolate, and other goodies giving you a much needed boost to finish the ride?鈥 he said. 鈥淵es, it is as awesome as it sounds.鈥
The ride kicks off at 11 a.m. at the end of Ravens Plateau in Valleycliffe, with registration starting at 10 a.m. It costs $40 to register and all proceeds go to SSAR.
An after-party with prizes and other shenanigans occurs later that evening. For more information on the event, visit www.facebook.com/events/1464181177236526.
