Top biathletes ready for busy weekend in Sea to Sky Corridor

Some of the best biathletes in North America are getting set to descend upon Whistler Olympic Park (WOP) for the Stride and Glide Sports B.C. Biathlon Championships today through Sunday (March 2 to 4).

In addition to the competitive categories, the championships will feature recreational biathlon for everyone from complete novices to experienced biathletes who prefer a more relaxed and informal race.

"The B.C. Biathlon Championships brings out the best biathletes from all over our province and beyond, and is a great event to host as we continue to build the legacy of biathlon in Sea to Sky Country," said Clayton Whitman, president of the Callaghan Winter Sports Club (CWSC). "麻豆社国产proved its ability to host major international Nordic competitions during the Olympics with a great turnout of volunteers, and we are calling for volunteers from throughout the corridor to come out and help us demonstrate our continued ability to host major events."

The competitive portion of the event kicks off on Saturday (March 3) with the opening ceremonies beginning at 10 a.m. and the sprint competition happening at 11 a.m. The top racers will continue on Sunday (March 4) with a mass start race kicking off at 10 a.m.

The weekend will also mark the final two races in the recreational biathlon series for this season. Saturday will feature a sprint format, with Sunday being a mass start. Both races begin at 2 p.m. Racers have the choice of competing in either three laps by 500 metres, 900 metres or two kilometres.
