Cody “TKO” Smith is in for literally the biggest challenge in his career when All Star Wrestling (ASW) returns to the Totem Hall on April 11.
Smith will be taking on one of the largest and most feared men in wrestling’s Pacific Northwest – the Cremator.
Standing at 6 feet, 10 inches and weighing 270 pounds, the Cremator is known for his intimidation tactics and his propensity for violence. He’s excelled in all styles of wrestling but has lots of experience in no holds barred wars.
Plus, he’s one scary looking dude.
“He’s a very physically imposing guy – he wears a mask and he’s just a very scary guy,” Smith admitted. “We’re a kid friendly show but the kids might remember a guy like Cremator for a long time.”
Smith said he recently defeated one of Cremator’s allies at a recent ASW show and the big man will be looking for some revenge. He expects it to be one of the most challenging matches in his career.
“What’s really made Cremator famous are the hardcore kind of matches with a lot more action outside the ring and using objects from all over the arena,” he said. “I’m going to have to approach this in a different manner and be more tactical and technical.”
He said he plans on focusing on working on the legs of the Cremator to weaken him and keep him off his feet. The match is scheduled to be a traditional bout but Smith said he wouldn’t be surprised if things get out of hand and the rulebook is tossed out.
“I wouldn’t doubt it if it turns into a no disqualification or falls count anywhere match,” he said. “The refs might not have a choice – Cremator plays by his own rules and has intimidated refs in the past.”
Smith’s wrestling career has been on an upswing in 2014, as he’s wrestled on cards with legends such as Tatanka and he will also be a regular for Oregon’s WCWC when the return to television in that market later this year.
He’s in the main event for the promotions first television taping on April 12 when he battles veteran star “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce.
“Hopefully Cremator doesn’t beat me up too bad because I have Pearce in Oregon the next night,” Smith said.
According to Smith, it’s always fun to compete in Squamish.
“I’m enjoying it more and more,” he said. “When I first started it was just another job and another place but it means a lot to me. To be able to put on a show in your hometown and in front of people I grew up with is special.”
Smith said it should be a great night of wrestling and said the three way women’s match featuring Bambi Hall, KC Spinelli and Riea Von Slasher will be an excellent match. The show will also mark the 鶹debut for fan favourite The King of the Yukon, who will team with Kenny Lush against The Regime for the tag team titles. Other matches include Azeem the Dream against Toga Boy and The Great Kasaki taking on Travis Sionys.
