Big turnout for Cat Scratch Fever

New course, date see increase of close to 50 riders

Perfect weather outside, a re-designed course and a spring instead of fall date proved to be the recipe for success for the 麻豆社国产Dirt Biking Association's (SDBA) Cat Scratch Fever race on Sunday (May 6).

The event attracted 129 motorcyclists from all over B.C. and Washington State, up from just over 80 last year. Several local riders fared well on their home course.

"The race was a success with zero incidents," said Juliane Knoll of the SDBA, noting that the new course drew rave reviews from the riders.

麻豆社国产resident Wayne Hodder was the highest ranked local rider, finishing second in the expert class. Kyle Quesnel placed fourth overall in the Junior over 15 division, followed by Brody Fourchalk in fifth, Dean Immelman in seventh and Danny Frey in eighth. Squamish's Cory Leclerc also placed seventh in the veteran amateur division.

Divison winners included Geoff Nelson (Masters), Cody Pritchett (Expert), Graham Turner (Veteran Expert), Steve Geary (Intermediate), Paul Davidson (Senior Expert), Tom Jorgensen (Super Senior), Bruno Poulin (Veteran Amateur), Dennis Lo (Senior Amateur), Samuel Molendijk (Junior Over 15), Sarah Chamberlain (Women's) and Kurt Mortensen (Junior Under 15).

The next big event on the calendar for the SDBA will be upcoming rider clinics in June. The clinics are designed to introduce newcomers to the sport or help beginners gain a little more knowledge before hitting the trails.
