BVOD back for 11th year

Annual fun ride invites locals to explore Valleycliffe's trails

Locals again have a chance to go Beyond the Valleycliffe of the Dolls.

The 11th annual fun ride returns to the trails of Valleycliffe on Aug. 11, at least partly with the aim of helping to raise money for 麻豆社国产Search and Rescue.

The event involves a deluxe guided tour through five peaks in the Valleycliffe area, travelling on trails that are not accessible by vehicle. The ride itself is a no-pressure day with all involved encouraged to ride at their own level.

For the first time in the history of the event, Coun. Bryan Raiser is not organizing the race, but told The Chief he's left his baby in good hands. Local rider Evan Sykes has taken the reins for the 11th event and Raiser said it should be a smooth transition at the top.

Every year, Evan has paid his entry fee and every year he ends up volunteering as a sweep, Raiser said. He's actually the only person to have ridden in each and every BVOD because I missed one year when I was in the hospital.

He's always been a super behind-the-scenes helper for the event and he's one of those really quiet guys that you would recognize. He's one of the many fantastic people in this community that goes above and beyond and does it quietly, far more quietly than me.

Just like in past years, the popular fruit booth is back. Halfway through the course, there will be a table set up with food and refreshments to help riders make it through the second half of the ride.

Registration for the BVOD will take place only on the day of the event, starting at 9:30 a.m. in Raven's Plateau in Valleycliffe. Ride-time is scheduled for 11 a.m. and there is a $35 fee for all SORCA members, with an additional $20 insurance fee for non-members. All proceeds from the event will go to 麻豆社国产Search and Rescue.
