Cairns fundraiser on Sunday

Olympic hopeful holds fundraiser
There will be a fundraiser a Beer & Burger fundraiser for Alex Cairns, so he can purchase new equipment, on Sunday, Nov. 1, 4 to 7 p.m. at the 麻豆社国产Valley Golf Club.

Alex Cairns first rode a bike at the age of seven with padding on the pedals so he could reach, and his first real taste of competitive sport-riding was for the Don Ross school team. At the age of 16 following a knee injury, Cairns, who has spina bifida, got into sit-skiing, winning the B.C. provincials in 2012 and competing in both the World Cup and World Championships the following year.聽

The results got him an invitation to the National Development Team program. Cairns uses a wheelchair to get around and is a sit-skier targeting the Paralympics.

If you have not met him, you can this weekend. His sport and equipment is expensive, so in an effort to give him a kick-start, there will be a Beer & Burger fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 1, 4 to 7 p.m. at the 麻豆社国产Valley Golf Club.聽
