Add one final accolade to the stellar college basketball career of Shayna Cameron of the Quest Kermodes.
The Pacwest announced on April 1 that Cameron was named the conference鈥檚 female athlete of the year, the first time a Quest athlete has ever received that honour.
Cameron helped lead the Kermodes to the club鈥檚 second straight Pacwest title in February and was a key part of the only team in conference history to go undefeated with 21 wins in the regular season and sweep the playoffs.
She was second in league scoring average, recording 17.9 points per game during 21 regular season games in 2014-15. Cameron was also tied for seventh in the conference for assists per game with 2.7.
She continued her strong play in the playoffs this season, winning the Pacwest playoff most valuable player trophy. Cameron also was named a CCAA All-Canadian, an honour given to only nine other female basketball players in the country.
She leaves the school as the women鈥檚 basketball team鈥檚 all-time leading scorer and having started every single game in her four year run at Quest.
Other accolades Cameron received this year included: Pacwest women鈥檚 basketball player of the year, Pacwest regular season first team all-star and CCAA National Championship second team all-star.
The basketball journey isn鈥檛 quite over yet for Cameron, who still has one year remaining of post-secondary athletic eligibility. She plans to join a team in the CIS for the 2015-16 basketball season.聽
