The Howe Sound Cannons completed the rare five-peat in North Vancouver on Sunday (July 8).
The local baseball club won its fifth straight Inter-River midseason tournament by defeating the Pirates 4-2, wrapping up an undefeated tournament.
"Jeremy Galley pitched an amazing semifinal and final game, making everyone whiff at his pitches and 'Big Daddy' Kraz hit two blasts in the final game to lead us to victory," said Cannons first baseman Tyler Magee. "Alex Wishy and Big Will were also monumental in their pitching performances."
Magee added that several Cannons hit towering home runs over the weekend including Troy Morphy, Dave Jones, Galley and Magee himself. He also praised the hitting of Matty Taylor and Kevin Mackie.
The Cannons return to regular-season action with a doubleheader at Laroy Watt Field on Saturday (July 14). The club will take on the Reds, with first pitch set for noon.
