The annual Cast and Blast event is back and this year鈥檚 celebration of fishing culture in 麻豆社国产goes down from Friday through Sunday (April 4 to 6).
Cast and Blast is a free event to celebrate steelhead culture and attempts to bring more unity and fun into the local angling community.
It kicks off on Friday (April 4) at Sunwolf with a bamboo rod jamboree from noon to 4 p.m., with a mini-fly golf skins tournament starting at 3 p.m. A barbecue follows and there is a fly tying demo at 5 p.m., a grass casting contest from 6 to 7 p.m. and tie off competition at 8 p.m.
Action continues on Saturday (April 5) with several seminars teaching everything from fly-tying to guides to fishing in specific regions in B.C. from 9:30 to 11 a.m. A women鈥檚 fly-fishing intro class starts at noon, with more presentations and demos spread throughout the afternoon. A fly fishing film festival ends the night starting at 8 p.m.
On Sunday (April 6) it鈥檚 the Western Canada Speycasting Championship at Alice Lake from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Competitors use 15-foot rods and long belly lines to cast for distance.
Cast and Blast takes place at Sunwolf Resort, on the 麻豆社国产Valley Road at the Cheakamus crossing. Sunwolf鈥檚 Fergie鈥檚 restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner during the event.
