Cat Scratch draws record field

Dirt bike race attracts 131 racers to trails at Cat Lake

A new course, sweltering weather and ideal trail conditions added up to the biggest Cat Scratch Fever dirt bike race of all time.

A total of 131 riders from all over the Pacific Northwest descended onto the trails of Cat Lake on Sunday (May 5) and the feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive.

麻豆社国产resident Aaron Richardson was the big winner, finishing first in the A riders expert division.

Thanks to all the race organizers and volunteers for making the Cat Scratch a success, he stated on the 麻豆社国产Dirt Bike Association's (SDBA) Facebook page. A special thanks to Steve [Klassen] for all the countless hours he has put in to do what no other has done smoothed out the Cat Lake trails.

The other local to win his category was Cory Leclerc. The 麻豆社国产resident had a first-place finish in the B division Veteran Amateur 30 to 39 group and echoed Richardson's thoughts on the course.

It wasn't easy but seven laps on the B loop was the No. 1 goal the win was No. 2, he said. The work done on the track was much appreciated. Only one tiny blister whereas last year my hands were hamburger.

Matt Cook, who placed third in the same division as Leclerc, was the only other 麻豆社国产racer to place in the top three.

Other A division winners included: Ryan Dey (Master's), Graham Turner (Veteran Expert 30+), Quinn McCullough (Intermediate) and Tim Agar (Senior Expert 40+).

B division winners included: Tony Allen (Super Senior 50+), Blake Weiss (Senior Amateur 40 to 49), Fraser Stewart (Junior 16+), Linda Ingvarsson (Women) and John Shamley (Junior 15 and under).
