Charlery named Quest women's hoop coach

Assistant coach moved to head coaching job for 2012-'13 season

The Quest University Kermodes women's basketball team will have a new man running the show this fall.

The school announced on Monday (June 4) that assistant coach Dany Charlery has been hired as the team's new head coach, replacing Mike Woollard.

"I feel like it's a good opportunity to see where I stand as a basketball coach," said Charlery, who arrived in 麻豆社国产in September 2010. "I'm excited about the chance to see where coaching can take me. It should be fun and exciting."

Charlery is a former CIS all-star with the Brandon University Bobcats and spent the past two years as an assistant coach with the women's team. Charlery also worked with the men's team this past season.

Quest officials did not state a reason for the parting of ways with Woollard, who coached the team to its first-ever playoff berth this season.

Charlery will be assisted by second-year coach Kim Land, whose NCAA experience helped the team to a Provincials birth in 2011-'12. The team opens its season this October.
