It was a triumphant return to competition for the 麻豆社国产Cougars juvenile team.
The team, comprised of local 18 to 20 year olds, took home the president's playoff banner after a 2-1 win against Surrey on March 11.
After a strong regular season, the team advanced to a short round robin playoff where they picked up wins over 3-2 over North Delta, a 4-1 win against Cloverdale and another 8-7 victory over North Delta.
Cole Stefiuk scored the banner winning goal against Surrey late in the second period to clinch the win.
Team representative Nick Lowe said it was a good year for the Cougars and he has high hopes for next season.
"We are very stoked and confident that we can go to Provincials and win with the team we have next year," he said in an email.
Lowe said there should be 11 or 12 returning players next season and the squad may look at adding a few players from Whistler. He added that the plan is for the team to play in Flight 1 and battle for the Provincials from there.
