After plenty of hard work and sweat, three locals are heading to the Crossfit Canada West Regionals.
Crossfit gyms all over the world held Crossfit Open competitions and 麻豆社国产Crossfit was no different, hosting an open event on March 28.
After hours of competition, Jayde Quilty, Andrew Slater and Brad Burling qualified for the regionals in Richmond in May.
The top 48 men and women in Canada West qualified to take the next step to regional鈥檚. Quilty posted an impressive second-place finish in Canada West among all females and 60th best in the world. Slater was 37th for all men in the region and Burling
placed 47th.
A total of 1,900 women and 2,400 men competed in Crossfit Open events throughout the Canada West region. Athletes are tasked to complete a specific number of reps in a set amount of time or a set number of movements and are scored by the fastest times. Each athlete does five sets of the exercises and results are balanced to come up with a final score.
Events are made up of classic Crossfit movements like box jumps, deadlifts, thrusters, pullups, burpees and many others.
Quilty, Slater and Burling move on to the Canada West regionals at the Richmond Oval from May 9 to 11. From that event, the top two men and women qualify for the World Crossfit Games in California in July.
