Dawson, Fanturova excel in Sooke

Two locals win respective divisions at triathlon

A pair of 麻豆社国产women made an impact at the Subaru Sooke Triathlon on Sunday (Aug. 12).

Zoe Dawson took home first in the Olympic distance category amongst all women, running 10 km, biking 40 km and swimming 1.5 km in 2:39:21. Dawson was the fastest female and placed 11th overall in the race.

It's been a good season for Dawson, who placed third amongst all women at the Victoria Triathlon's half ironman division back in June.

Squamish's Lenka Fanturova was the fastest female in the sprint distance, running five km, biking 16 km and swimming 500 metres in 1:02:44. Fanturova beat out the next ranked female by five minutes and 40 seconds and posted the fourth fastest time overall.

Fanturova and Dawson weren't the only locals who made the trek to Vancouver Island to compete as Carlee Grant also placed 24th amongst all women in the Olympic distance with a time of 3:19:58.
