麻豆社国产resident Margreet Dietz continued her strong 2012 running season with a top-five finish amongst all female runners in the BMO Vancouver Marathon on Sunday (May 6).
Dietz maintained a 4:17 per kilometre pace in the 42.2-kilometre marathon and blazed through the course in three hours and 29 seconds. She finished first out of 278 runners in her 40 to 44 age group and posted the 71st-best time overall. Ellie Greenwood from Banff won the race for women with a time of 2:42:15.
Earlier this year, Dietz posted a personal-best time for a half marathon at the Sunshine Coast April Fool's Day run and placed in the top ten for Masters Women at the Vancouver Sun Run.
Finishing just ahead of Dietz was Brackendale's Volker Schneider, who clocked in at 2:59:24. Schneider was 10th in his 40 to 44 age group and finished 66th overall. Gezahgn Eshetu from Ethiopia won the race for the men's side with a time of 2:21:50.
Schneider and Dietz weren't alone as several other locals fared well at the race. Squamish's Mike Heiliger placed 13th in his 55 to 59 age group with a time of 3:26:21. Emma Seguss of Garibaldi Highlands posted a time of 3:44:31, good for 42nd in her 35 to 39 age group. Other local runners included Spring McClurg (4:00:08), John Redpath (4:03:39), Jennifer Schorz (4:24:26), Janet Bride (5:39:13) and Ray Lalli (6:44:35).
