Dirt Search Contest looks elsewhere

MEC chooses Yukon Territory

In the end, 麻豆社国产came up a little short.

Organizers of the Mountain Equipment Co-Op (MEC) Dirt Search contest announced on Monday (March 3) that the Contagious Mountain Bike Club in the Yukon Territory will receive $10,000 to improve local trails.

They beat out Squamish's SORCA and seven other hopefuls in the vote. SORCA officials had plans to rebuild the Rob's Corners/Cliff's Corners trail, which was recently devastated by industrial activity, into an intermediate flow trail similar to Half Nelson or Pseudotsuga.

People were allowed to cast their votes once a day for most of the month of February, with the contest closing on Feb. 26. According to the MEC blog, the Yukon Territory received 6,551 votes to win the contest. Vote totals for 麻豆社国产were not posted on the website.

The Contagious Mountain Bike Club plans to sponsor a First Nation-led project that 's reviving land-based traditions and transforming a small northern community into a global riding destination by through trail building, MEC officials said.
