The weather might be cooling off but the action is heating up for Don Ross Secondary School (DRSS) athletes.
Volleyball and cross country are well underway and the DRSS cross country boys team has been shaking things up in the North Shore League standings.
The team sits in second place, impressive considering they are going up against bigger schools in North and West Vancouver. Team members include Kasper Woolley, Luke Parry, Jack Cormack, Wayne Yang, Andres Velasco, Aaron McCreanor, Nick Kleban, Graeme Bowers, Connor Lum, Kai Labrenz, Hunter Verner and Isaac Dawson.
The group of Grade 8 and 9 runners is seven points behind first-place Sutherland High School in North Vancouver in the standings. Parry and Cormack are third and fourth, respectively, in the overall Grade 8 standings, with Woolley ranking sixth among Grade 9s.
The DRSS girls cross country team is in ninth place and the team is made up by Mikayla Lorimer, Sorsha Henning, Angela Blomme and Kyley Rosser.
Both teams were set to hit the trail in the North Shore League finals on Wednesday (Oct. 23) but results were not available to The Chief at press time. Make sure to check next week's edition of The Chief for more details and results from Wednesday's finals.
